Now that the holiday season is here, there are many fun family activities and events to attend all month. Here are some of the best winter events near Hattiesburg.
Christmas Open House
The African American Military History Museum will host its annual Christmas Open House event on December 8 from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The museum offers free admission and showcases local residents who served in the military.
Olde Tyme Christmas
The Hattiesburg Downtown Association presents an Old Tyme Christmas Dec. 8 and 9. Visitors are invited downtown to walk through the Historic Neighborhood, which is lit up with 18,000 luminaries. Carriage rides and tours of the homes will be available.
Come see a fun holiday performance by local young actors in Elf, Jr. There will be performances Dec. 8-9 at the Historic Hattiesburg Saenger Theater. Tickets are on sale now.
Christmas in the Park
Head over to Taylorsville the evening of Dec.13 and visit the Taylorsville City Park for a beautiful Christmas light display.
Zoo Lights & Holiday Market
Visit the Hattiesburg Zoo and welcome Christmas with the annual Zoo Lights and Holiday Market. This will run from Dec. 14-16 and Dec. 21-23. The zoo will be open from 6-8 p.m. each night.
